women's Artistic

Women's Artistic Gymnastics is the most popular and well known to the public of the seven gymnastics disciplines. The popularity of the sport  is likely due to the performances of Olga Korbut in 1972 and Nadia Comaneci in 1976 at the Montreal Olympics. Both gymnasts captured the  attention and imagination of girls all over the world, resulting in the most rapid growth of any sport in history.

Women's Artistic Gymnastics is an incredibly challenging sport, demanding strength, power, flexibility, agility, courage, concentration and focus.  When performed in technical precision these performances appear almost effortless and are breathtaking to watch. Women's artistic  gymnastics consists of four events: Vault, Balance Beam, Vault and Floor.

Developmental:

This is our program for advanced 4, 5, and 6 year olds who show an early love of gymnastics, above average physical potential, lots of energy and an eagerness to learn. At this level, we introduce proper body alignment, flexibility, conditioning and coordination. This will help facilitate learning the fundamentals of the sport. Athletes typically train 4-6 hours per week through the school year and 6-9 hours a week in July and August. Athletes can move from this program into the recreational program, or be invited to join the precompetitive program

Precompetitive:

This is our program for the most advanced athletes under 9 years of age who have the potential to compete at the provincial or national level. Basic skills and connections are introduced, and flexibility and conditioning become more challenging. These athletes may participate in events for either or both of the Ontario Development Program (ODP) and the Ontario Competitive Program (OCP). Athletes typically train 9 hours per week through the school year and 12 hours a week in July and August. When these athletes turn 9, they can move into the advanced recreational program, or be invited to join a competitive group working at the appropriate OCP level.

Competitive:

This is our program for the most advanced athletes over 7 years of age. These athletes have previous gymnastics training and are seeking a more challenging experience. Athletes compete on a provincial or national basis in the appropriate category based on age and skill level. Athletes at this level typically train 12 to 16 hours per week through the school year and 16 to 20 hours a week in July and August.
